About Us: Russ Abbott is a freelance artist located in the state of Michigan. He specializes in a very broad range of eclectic art. From sculpting to using different abstract canvas, such as: feathers, wood, antlers, bone, clay, glass, motorcycles, walls, vehicles, plastic, leather, clothing and much more. His sculptures range from mannequins/life-like representations, life sized whales, wild animals, bears, fish, dolphins, turtles, sea horses, dinosaurs, horses, aliens/predators, Michigan State Spartans, movie characters, celebrities/famous well known people and many more. A lot of his techniques consist of carving, sketching, painting by (hand brush and acrylic airbrush) fabricating, mold making and sculpting. He's always striving, looking for new projects and opportunities, excited to bring his amazing talents to light and share with the world. The whole idea that started with working on turkey feathers came from his best friend Archie, a well known elder to a very special Indian tribe. Now after 20+ years of this wonderful concept, it's become one of his best sellers and specialties. Russ is always willing to go above and beyond to create, share and spread the message of his talent to everyone. Information On Feathers: He uses pre-sterilized, certified, pure and clean feathers, which is treated before and after to ensure they keep their shape and the paint color doesn't fade into the feathers used. The process of creating these masterpieces start by him matching the right feathers with each image to create the perfect layout. After that, a personalized stencil is designed custom to the image. Next step, he then fills in the general outline with an acrylic airbrush, once that is finished then he moves forward with the final step in the process. He sits down and hand paints all of the details/specifics; colors, eyes, textures, fur, facial features, feathers, petals, reflections, words, symbols etc. and it's done. Therefore each final piece is unique and individual, none of them are exactly alike and identical. *IMPORTANT NOTE: The feathers will be sold in Singles or Three Feather Pairs, prices will vary. Custom Orders: We absolutely accept custom orders, so please feel free to send us a detailed message/request of what you would like or an idea of what you're looking for. Pictures can be sent as well with what you want for ideas or specifics. You can send me a message anytime and I'll gladly accommodate your inquiries. Frames: These pieces do not come with a wood and glass frame, additional charges would have to be added due to the cost of shipping and handling, more so than the quality of the frame itself. I highly recommend getting the item specially framed or pick up a ready-made frame at your local store. Some good decent frames can be found at local stores such as Menards, Walmart, Meijer, Lowes, Michaels and Hobby Lobby. Frame Sizes: When purchasing a frame, the measurements for the (Three Feathers) should be 11×14. For the (Single Feather) the frame measurements should be 14×5.5.
